RE:      NAPE Women’s Conference

May 16 – 19, 2019

Dear Sister/Brother:

Applications are now being accepted for the NAPE Women’s Conference.  The Conference will be held at The Wilds Golf Resort, Salmonier from May 16-19, 2019.

Each year NAPE holds a Women’s Conference to discuss issues pertinent to women in the context of the labour movement. The conference normally consists of some combination of guest speakers, panelists, workshops, and seminars.

The goal of the Women’s Conference is to build women’s political capacity and activism in the union, the community and beyond.

The conference is organized by NAPE’s Women’s Committee.

The selection process for this Conference will be done by Region.  Members who have not attended a Women’s Conference before will be given preference, wherever possible. Registration is open to self-identified female members only. As in previous years, the committee will be compiling a wait list; therefore, if you apply and cannot attend, it is important you notify accounting immediately since the Committee will be “backfilling” from the wait list.

Transportation for the Conference will be provided by charter bus, which will pick up passengers at designated stops along the Trans Canada Highway.  Members will be reimbursed for their mileage traveling from their homes to and from the nearest place the charter bus stops.  Members living in Labrador and St. Anthony will be flown to the nearest airport. Buses will be leaving St. John’s and the West Coast on the morning of Thursday, May 16 and leaving to return on Sunday, May 19.

All meals will be provided with the exception of Thursday lunch and Sunday lunch, which will be per diem, if travelling by bus.

Accommodations will be based upon double occupancy. This is a smoke free facility so a smoking room is not an option.

Registration will be on Thursday, May 16, from 4-5 p.m. in the main lobby of the hotel.

Time off/wage loss is not provided for this Conference.  Any member who is selected to attend must arrange their own time off.

Please circulate this information in your workplace.  The deadline for applications for this Conference is Friday, April 8, 2019.

To register offline, please contact Ettie, Rose, or Courtney in Accounting at 1-800-563-4442.
