But racism in our workplaces\, and sometimes in our own union spaces\, means that promise doesn’t land the same way for every member. Racialized workers are often overrepresented in precarious work\, underrepresented in leadership\, and too often left to speak up about racism on their own. \nIn this lunch and learn\, Laurabel Mba\, Founder and Lead Consultant of Laurabel Mba Consulting\, unpacks why anti-racism isn’t a side issue for unions. It’s core to the work of fairness\, safety\, and collective strength. Thus\, Shop Stewards are your first line of defence\, as they are responsible for enforcing contracts\, handling grievances\, ensuring worksite safety\, mobilizing members for political campaigns\, orienting new members to the worksite and NAPE\, and more. \n\n\nSeminars will be scheduled for each region and Shop Stewards will be notified once dates are set. NAPE’s goal is to provide this training to all of our Shop Stewards across the province.
