The activists are Local executive officers representing NAPE members from the West coast, Northern Peninsula and Labrador. NAPE President Carol Furlong will be addressing the group this evening. According to Furlong, local activists are the grass roots of the union movement and are a vital part of ensuring the effectiveness of a union and its representation. “Education is the key to ensuring local officers are empowered to effectively represent the members,” Furlong stated. The seminar is being held at the Greenwood Inn, commencing Friday at 6:30 p.m. ending Sunday afternoon.
