There are 900 employees working with these agencies. According to NAPE President Carol Furlong, “this was a unique round of negotiations with six of the 17 unionized home care agencies negotiating jointly. NAPE has advocated for a master agreement for all home care workers in the province and this is a major step in that process.”
A tentative agreement has been reached for the following home care agencies: Compassion Home Care Inc., Notre Dame Compassionate Care Inc., Provincial Home Care, Provincial Home Care Central, Serenity Nursing and Home Support Services Ltd., Total Care Nursing in the Home Services Ltd.
The tentative agreement consists of wage increases, improvements in benefits and contract language. Ratification votes will be held over the coming weeks.
