According to NAPE President Carol Furlong, support staff were informed yesterday of the reduction in hours for housekeeping services, resulting in fewer staff. “Existing staff do not have the capacity or the time to take on the additional workloads or maintain the same standards and levels of cleanliness for the two sites, said Furlong. It is unbelievable that we see any reductions in services within our health care system, said Furlong. The cleanliness and maintenance of our health care facilities are not negotiable. We’re extremely concerned that this might be a first step in reducing health care services throughout the entire region, stated Furlong.
