Building Maintenance Person/Clerk Receptionist

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the Building Maintenance Person serves to provide skilled and semi-skilled work in the daily maintenance of the St. John’s facility and its grounds. Such work includes but is not limited to preventative maintenance, electrical, plumbing, mechanical trades work and janitorial services. This position is integral to the effective and efficient operation of the Organization and interacts on a daily basis with Staff, Members and Employers.
Reporting to the Executive Secretary, the Clerk Receptionist is the first line of contact between NAPE and the membership. This role is suited to a driven individual with at least two years relevant experience, who leads through their ability to organize and deliver, can engage with superior communication skills and will produce growth and improved engagement with our diverse membership.
The incumbent of this position is required to function with a fair degree of initiative and independence.
QUALIFICATIONS AS BUILDING MAINTENANCE PERSON
The Building Maintenance Person must have good general building maintenance skills with experience in a similar role. Ability to meet the physical demands of this position which include lifting, standing, bending, and reaching among other movements that require an adequate level of physical fitness.
Strong critical thinking skills to troubleshoot issues and maintain facility in high quality condition.
QUALIFICATIONS AS CLERK/RECEPTIONIST
Graduation from post basic education facility with an emphasis on Office Administration or equivalent education and/or experience. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite of programs. Prior experience working in a Unionized environment is considered a great asset. Excellent telephone etiquette and able to communicate with a range of members, knowledge of data protection policies, experience with a membership database are skills demanded of this position.
This combined position requires the incumbent to have a clear Certificate of Conduct, have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and possess a reliable vehicle.

A comprehensive salary and benefit package in accordance with the Staff Collective Agreement.
