NAPE Calls on Employer to Return to the Bargaining Table

ST. JOHN’S, NL –Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) President Carol Furlong is calling on the management team at Labatt Brewing Company (Labatt) to live up to comments made in the media that they are interested in returning to the bargaining table.

“The employer has said that they are interested in returning to the bargaining table,” said Furlong. “Despite these public comments, the employer has made no official attempt to return to the table. While the conciliator has made repeated attempts, the employer has failed to return to the bargaining table.”

“We are calling on the employer to live up to their public comments and return to the bargaining table,” stated Furlong. “Our members want to reach a fair deal so they can go back to work creating a world class, locally made product for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Workers with Labatt, who are members of NAPE, have been in a legal strike since April 10 of this year.
