NAPE Celebrates Emergency Medical Services Week

ST. JOHN’S, NL – May 20 to 26 is Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. NAPE represents over 250 EMS workers in Newfoundland and Labrador. The theme of EMS week 2012 is, “EMS: More Than A Job. A Calling.”

“EMS workers are truly on the front lines of our healthcare system,” said NAPE President Carol Furlong. “Every day, people across our province depend on these skilled professionals in their greatest hour of need. From accidents to illness, these workers are the first on the scene to assess, treat, care and transport. Every day, these people answer the call to care.”

“This week is a special time to recognize the life-saving work of the province’s emergency medical services professionals,” stated Furlong. “We ask that you join us in acknowledging the crucial role that EMS workers play in our health care system and the vital service they provide to the people of our province.”
