NAPE Members in Fifteen Public Sector Bargaining Units Vote in Favour of Accepting Tentative Agreements

ST. JOHN’S, NL – Voting for public sector workers in fifteen public sector bargaining units of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) has concluded. Votes took place province-wide over the past three weeks.

Overall, members of the public sector bargaining units, representing approximately 20,000 workers across the province, voted 88% in favour of accepting the agreement. The individual bargaining unit results are as follows:

CNA Support 92% 8%
General Service 83% 17%
Group Homes 94% 6%
Health Professionals 92% 8%
Hospital Support 92% 8%
Laboratory and X-Ray 93% 7%
Maintenance and Operational Services 74% 26%
Marine Services 91% 9%
NLC 87% 13%
School Boards 88% 12%
Student Assistants 96% 4%
Ushers 91% 9%
Workplace NL 93% 7%

“This has been a long and especially difficult round of bargaining, so we are happy to reach this stage and see this overall result,” said NAPE President Jerry Earle. “We will now work on getting the agreements signed as quickly as possible.”
