The convention will also serve as a celebration of the union’s 75th anniversary.

NAPE president, Carol Furlong says, “Our 75th anniversary is a time to celebrate our long list of accomplishments. Biennial Convention is the perfect venue to pay tribute to those who have built and strengthened our union during the past 75 years.”

Beginning on June 16, the three-day convention will set the direction and pass the budget for the union, which represents over 25,000 workers in Newfoundland and Labrador. It will also serve as a platform for delegates to reflect on the union’s activities, achievements, and challenges since the last convention in 2009.

Highlights of convention will include:

  • President’s Address, Thursday, June 16, 10:00am
  • Brief history of NAPE, Thursday, June 16, 9:30am
  • Secretary-Treasurer’s report, June 16, 2:00pm
  • Honoured guest speaker and Holocaust survivor, Dr. Philip Riteman, Friday, June 18, 9:15am
