Re: Budget Response Unit
—
As you are no doubt aware, the provincial budget contained a number of measures that will adversely affect NAPE members and the services they provide. In particular, there were a number of layoffs announced.
We are analyzing the budget in more detail and will have a more thorough update for you shortly. We are also pushing back on the budget in the media, which is a key component of our fight back efforts.
To provide our ill-affected members with an avenue to have their questions answered, particularly about inquiries related to layoff, bumping, and recall we have set up a Budget Response Unit.
The Unit, comprised of Employee Relations Officers (ERO), Board members, and Shop Stewards, will be available to field calls from members at:
753 – BUMP (2867)
The Unit will be operational beginning 8:30 am tomorrow – Friday, April 15, 2016.
Email inquiries should be directed to the appropriate ERO.
Where possible, as per normal procedure, questions, grievances, and related matters should be addressed at the Local level by Local Officers and Shop Stewards.
This is a difficult time for a large number of our members – only by working and standing together will we be successful in navigating these troubled waters.
There is strength in the Union.
In solidarity,
Jerry
NAPE President
