Demonstrations in Bonavista come to an end

“Hours of work for health care support staff in Bonavista have been re-instated”, says NAPE President Furlong. The union and officials from Eastern Health met following lunch hour demonstrations last week when hours of work for housekeeping staff were reduced.

“We are very pleased that management at Eastern Health met with the union and front line staff and heard what they had to say and acted on it”, said Furlong. The reduction of hours came about following a report which was conducted by Aramark, a private company, who actually manages the facilities management department.

According to Furlong, the Local executive and management have agreed to form a committee to review the recommendations and work to find solutions where necessary. Furlong stated, “Obviously we are very pleased to have this matter resolved.”
