June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Today is a day dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the heritage, diverse cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. Their lived experience and history is one of resistance, struggle and strength.
Indigenous peoples and communities continue to face hardship and the impacts of colonization, and we must do more than recognize and celebrate. We must all commit to working with Indigenous nations, communities, and peoples towards truth and reconciliation.
We encourage NAPE members to participate in Indigenous Peoples Day activities and events happening in communities around the province today and throughout the month and to further commit to dismantling the systems that continue to cause harm to Indigenous peoples.
