ST. JOHN’S, NL– The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) officially launched the ‘Home Care: Our Best Choice’ public relations advertising campaign today. The ads, which began to air earlier this week, will run province-wide on a wide array of platforms.

NAPE represents over 4000 home and youth care workers across the province.

“Home care gives those who need support the ability to stay in their own homes; in their own communities. It allows people to get better, grow, and be independent; and that’s good for their physical and mental health,” said NAPE President Jerry Earle. “Home care gives loved ones peace of mind. And it reduces stress and strain on our health care system – while saving money.”

“Despite the crucial role that home and youth care workers play in our province, many people do not fully understand the multitude of roles and services that these workers provide,” said Earle. “We wanted to launch this campaign to highlight the positive impact that home and youth care workers have on thousands of people across the province every single day.”

NAPE is heading to the bargaining table with Home Care Agencies across the province later this month.

“In many cases, home care is the best choice – for families, for loved ones, for our seniors, for those with special needs, for troubled youth, for our healthcare system, and for our province’s bottom line,” said Earle. “The provincial government is relying more heavily on home and youth care to address a host of needs in communities across our province – which makes sense. However, we must ensure that the people who are providing these services are treated with the dignity and respect that goes with playing such a vital role in our province’s healthcare and community support systems.”
